Disabilities and impairments

The CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent offers a range of services for people of all ages living with an intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder or a physical disability.  

Services offered for disabilities and impairments

  • Support and accompaniment services: home assistance, residential services, assistive devices (wheelchairs, orthoses, etc.), meaningful and enriching activities, family and caregiver support
  • Development and life skills services: child development, autonomy, responsibility, communication, social, emotional and sexual life; integration into recreation, community, school and work life
  • Support for partners and the community: counselling, awareness-raising, information, knowledge transfer, etc.
     

After assessing your situation, our staff will direct you to the appropriate services. The needs of users, their families and loved ones form the foundation of the services offered.

The welcome brochure for users contains general information on our intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder and physical disability (ID-ASD-PD) services. It helps users understand the steps involved in their service pathway and provides guidance on the available resources.  

This reference tool is useful for all individuals with an intellectual disability, ASD or physical disability, as well as for those receiving services within our organization.

  • support services (residential resources, family support, partner support)

If a person living with a disability or autism spectrum disorder exhibits challenging behaviours that can manifest as anger, violence, etc., our teams have the expertise to support interventions aimed at preventing or reducing behavioural issues or severe behavioural disorders.
