Automobile driver assessment program (PECA)

The automobile driving adaptation and rehabilitation program (PERCA) aims to support mobility within the community for individuals living with a physical disability by facilitating access to or the safe operation of a motor vehicle.

The program offers several activities, including:

  • assessment of motor or cognitive abilities required for the safe use of a Class 5 passenger vehicle;
  • evaluation of the prerequisites necessary for new drivers to operate a motor vehicle;
  • training in the use of driving adaptations;
  • assessment of passenger safety related to access to a vehicle;
  • recommendations and follow-up regarding adaptations for driving or access to a vehicle.
     

For children and adolescents

Program activities for children focus on recommendations and follow-up regarding the adaptations required for safe access to a vehicle.

The program activities for adolescents include:

  • evaluation of the prerequisites required for new drivers to operate a motor vehicle;
  • training in the use of driving adaptations;
  • assessment of the safety of vehicle access for passengers;
  • recommendations and follow-up regarding adaptations for driving or access to a vehicle.
     

How to access services

Intake, analysis, guidance, and referral services (AAOR)) is the main entry point to the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent for CLSC service requests. This service receives your request, reviews it, directs you to the appropriate service or refers you to the appropriate agency according to your needs.
