Youth mental health
The CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent offers psychosocial and diagnostic services, care and medical treatment for children aged 0 to 18 who are dealing with mental health problems.
What is mental health, exactly?
Mental health is a state of emotional and psychological balance that allows us to feel good about ourselves and others and adapt to the life’s challenges. It’s an integral part of a person’s overall health, just like their physical health.
Mental health problems can manifest at any stage of a child’s or adolescent’s development. Various causes and different biological, psychological, social or experiential factors have an impact on the development of a mental health problem. The symptoms observed vary from one person to the next in terms of intensity, complexity and comorbidity. A health professional can assess the youth’s needs.
In this section, you’ll find the services offered and how to access them. You can also learn how to access our services and about youth mental health.
