Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive despite regular unprotected sexual relations over a one-year period. Infertility affects about 10 to 15% of couples.

Various complex factors come into play. The causes of infertility can be attributed to one of the partners, or both of them at the same time. The causes can often be identified, and sometimes treated.
