Seniors and Reduced Autonomy Care and Services
The CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent offers a full range of care and services for seniors or people who are experiencing loss of autonomy and their loved ones. These services can be provided at a partner facility, a CLSC or a private seniors’ resource, an intermediate resource (IR), a residential and long-term care centre (CHSLD), or senior or alternative housing.
A CISSS professional will assess your situation to determine your needs and direct you to the appropriate resources.
For an assessment, consult the section on how to access a service.
Services based on your situation
The objective of these services is to maintain and restore autonomy, as well as carefully direct users to the most appropriate resources based on their needs:
- ambulatory services*
- home support services
- a private seniors’ residence
- an intermediate resource
- a residential and long-term care centre (CHSLD)
- senior or alternative housing
To support autonomy, ambulatory services will be prioritized over home support services. In terms of housing, the person’s needs and the services offered will be aligned in order to find a stimulating living environment that corresponds to the person’s capacities.
