Parce qu'avoir des outils pour reprendre votre santé mentale en main, c'est déjà un pas dans la bonne direction !
Self-management of health can be summed up in four words: Know, Evaluate, Choose, Act.
- Know : To manage your health well, you first need to understand yourself. This means knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and recognizing warning signs of too much stress or underlying distress that could turn into illness if not addressed. It’s also important to know which behaviours promote good health and what resources are available when needed.
- Evaluate : Health self-management involves regularly evaluating your state of health and paying attention to changes in your well-being, mood and stress levels. This helps you identify early signs that something’s wrong and that your health may be at risk.
- Choose : To protect your health, it’s important to make daily choices that support your physical and mental well-being. Even with healthy habits, warning signs can still appear in some situations. When this happens, you need to choose the best option for you to prevent your condition from getting worse.
- Act : Your choices help your health only if you put them into action. Taking action is essential for managing your health. You need to act every day to stay healthy, and also during difficult times to help yourself recover.
Who’s it for? How does it work?
This intensive group intervention (2.5 hours per session) takes place over 10 weeks and is recommended for groups of 10 to 15 participants. It includes theoretical information, practical exercises, discussions and exercises to complete between sessions.
Participants receive workbooks to keep at each meeting.
These workshops provide accurate and useful information to support informed decision-making about health. They also offer practical tools to help participants take care of themselves. However, participants are fully responsible for deciding what works for them and for applying their decisions in daily life. The workshop co-facilitators are guides and motivators who encourage participants in their process, but they do not make decisions for them or impose any particular course of action. The power over one’s health belongs to each individual.
