What is a knee arthroplasty?

Image genouTotal knee replacement is a surgical procedure that involves removing the damaged parts of your knee and replacing them with artificial implants made of polyethylene (plastic and metal) that are fixed to the bone. The prosthesis is designed to match your body’s anatomy. Measurements are taken to ensure the prosthesis is the correct size. The goal of the surgery is to reduce pain and improve mobility.
