SARA mobile unit
Service Ambulatoire Radiologique Accessible
The Bas-Saint-Laurent health network acquired a mobile unit in October 2007 to meet accessibility and quality assurance standards. The SARA mobile unit regularly holds clinics to serve women in Kamouraska, Témiscouata, Les Basques, La Mitis and La Matapédia.
Mobile unit clientele
The SARA mobile unit is dedicated to women requiring a breast cancer screening mammogram:
- This service is for women aged 50 to 74 with no history of breast cancer who have received an invitation letter or a medical prescription.
- For women aged 35 to 49 and 75 and older, a medical prescription is required.
Individuals with reduced mobility or in a wheelchair can access the SARA mobile unit. When booking an appointment, it’s important to specify your limitations and the type of equipment used so that the centre can adapt the exam and plan the appointment duration.
