Occupational Health: for a safe maternity
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, let your treating physician know what you do for a living. They can decide if you should apply this program: “For a Safe Maternity Experience.” Your doctor submits a request by completing the certificate for preventive withdrawal or reassignment of a pregnant or breastfeeding worker.
An occupational health professional may contact you to get additional information about your occupation. Your physician will then give you the completed certificate. You must give the certificate to your employer who must follow the recommendations that have been issued. For example:
- Adapt your work.
- Offer you a different job.
- Take you off work with the possibility of wage compensation.
The Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) is responsible for checking the eligibility of your request and ensuring your right to wage compensation.
