Pediatric motor impairment
The pediatric motor impairment rehabilitation program is intended for individuals with a physical impairment related to motor function. These individuals experience disabilities and disabling situations that affect their ability to carry out activities of daily living.
Services adapted to individual needs
To meet the daily needs of children, families and their loved ones, pediatric motor impairment services are organized into two streams according to age group:
- development of abilities for young children age 0 to 6;
- social participation for youth age 6 to 17.
Objectives of the services
- Promote the development of communication abilities in children age 0 to 6.
- Equip youth, their families and their environment with various adaptation and compensation strategies aimed at promoting autonomy and participation in social roles for youth age 6 to 18.
- Facilitate adaptation for youth age 0 to 18, their families and loved ones in relation to the challenges caused by the disabling situation.
- Support the performance of daily activities disrupted by disability in youth age 0 to 18 in order to encourage social participation.
Pediatric motor impairment services
- individual intervention services with the child (also involving a parent or loved one)
- group intervention services for youth
- support services for parents and loved ones
- support services for integration into community environments (e.g., daycare, school, recreation)
How to access services
Intake, analysis, guidance, and referral services (AAOR) is the main entry point to the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent for CLSC service requests. This service receives your request, analyzes it, directs you to the appropriate service or refers you to the appropriate agency according to your needs. To access this service.
