Disability support fund

The disability support fund (FSPH) is financial assistance that allows individuals with a disability, or their representative, to cover the costs of support based on their needs. The FSPH promotes independence for individuals with disabilities in their activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). It aims to ensure a fair, harmonized and needs-based allocation of resources.

To access one of these components of the program, you must already be receiving services. Your system navigator can refer you. If you don’t have one, consult the Access to a service section to request the support of a system navigator.

Home support

This component aims to compensate for what the person is unable to do because of their limitations in carrying out ADLs, IADLs, and social and community activities, and supports the person’s ability to remain in their natural living environment.

Family support

Provides compensation for the additional tasks that family members or close relatives must take on because of the user’s disability. To be eligible for this component, the person with a disability must live with one or more relatives. It cannot be granted if the person lives alone or if the request is to support an employee.

Elimination function support

Is intended for individuals with a physical disability, intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder that results in difficulties with elimination functions (urinary or bowel). The provision of aids (e.g., adult incontinence briefs, catheters) aims to provide financial assistance to those who need it.

Technical aids

This provides residential support for users with disabilities by offering, through equipment loans, technical aids and devices that support their independence in ADLs and IADLs.
