Intensive behavioural rehabilitation living environments for ID-ASD-PD

Intensive behavioural rehabilitation services are offered to people with an intellectual disability, an autism spectrum disorder or a physical disability. Based on the person’s needs, the support intervention services or access to intensive behavioural rehabilitation living environments can be transitional or long term.

Intensive behavioural rehabilitation living environments (continuous assistance resources - CARs)

Intensive behavioural rehabilitation living environments are for users who have a behavioural disorder (BD) or a severe behavioural disorder (SBD) that requires a safe environment, intensive behavioural rehabilitation and adaptation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as close supervision. Intensive behavioural rehabilitation living environments are resources where actions set out in the BD/SBD program are implemented. These temporary living environments are used to attain the rehabilitation objectives sought by the program when no other residential services are possible due to the severity of the person’s behaviour and the complexity of their situation.

Intensive behavioural rehabilitation living environment (complex care clinic)

The complex care clinic (BD/SBD) can receive users from three clinical departments (DPDITSADP- DPSAPA -DPSMD. This setting is designed to offer intensive behavioural rehabilitation services that are not residential services. Referral to the complex care clinic (BD/SBD) seeks to quickly reintegrate and maintain the user in a less restrictive living environment by identifying and implementing conditions that prevent the onset of at risk-behaviours. The proposed interventions are adapted to the residential resource and focus on the transfer of expertise to enable successful integration into the community. These interventions also seek to identify the essential conditions needed to provide supervision for users with complex clinical profiles and to offer an environment where they can receive services that are safe for themselves and others. Clinical approaches based on best practices are used to achieve developmental goals and restore daily living routines during the users’ service episodes at the complex care clinic (BD/SBD).
