Midwifery Services in the Bas-Saint-Laurent

Midwives are health professionals trained to take full responsibility for care during pregnancy, delivery and the post-natal period for the mother or the person who delivered the baby and the newborn, up to six weeks after birth.

The practice of midwifery is based on the vision that pregnancy and delivery are a normal physiological process with profound meaning for the parents.

More and more families are turning to the services of a midwife. These services are offered to the entire Bas-Saint-Laurent population.

Midwives with the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent offer consultations at six service points: CLSC de Saint-Pascal, CLSC de Rivière-du-Loup, CLSC de Cabano, CLSC de Rimouski, Maison des familles de La Matanie, Maison des familles des Basques and Maison de naissance Colette-Julien in Mont-Joli.
