Our approach
As part of their practice, midwives are devoted to continuity of care, informed choice, evidence-based practices and the health and well-being of both parent and child. They provide comprehensive care that takes into account the physical, psychological and social dimensions of this unique event—the birth of a child.
Normalcy
Midwives use their skills and knowledge to preserve the normalcy of giving birth. Their practice is based on the relationship established with the family around the normal physiological processes of pregnancy, delivery and the post-natal period.
Continuity
From the beginning of pregnancy, a team of two or three midwives is assigned to the mother. The members of the team remain resource persons throughout the pregnancy, the delivery and during the post-natal period. The team is available for support and guidance throughout the follow-up.
The continuity of support creates an important and special relationship during these precious moments.
Informed choice
Midwives believe that families are capable of making decisions about the care and services they receive. Their priority is to provide all the necessary information so that families can make informed decisions.
