Residential and long-term care centre (CHSLD)
A CHSLD is a substitute living environment that offers temporary or permanent housing, support, care (preventive, curative and end-of-life), as well as assistance, supervision and support services. It also offers rehabilitation, psychosocial, nursing, pharmaceutical and medical services for people who can no longer live safely in the community. These individuals have significant loss of autonomy and their condition requires intensive, continuous and long-term services. Each individual’s needs are assessed, and solutions to help maintain or increase their autonomy are proposed.
Housing costs are determined by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux based on the person’s financial situation.
